Personal Trainer Liz Ellis was our Sports Centre Coordinator from 2001 to 2007. Liz had an extraordinary passion for fitness and life and these passions, combined with her warm and lively personality and exceptional professional skills, enabled her to assist many Northern Midlands residents to achieve lifestyle changes to promote their health and well-being.
In 2001 Liz single-handedly organised the first Longford Fun Run and ensured it secured many local sponsors and strong community participation. Liz grew the fun run over the next five years and it has become a prominent feature on the Northern Tasmanian Fun Run schedule.
Sadly, due to ill-health, Liz left her Coordinator’s position in 2007, and passed away in October 2012. At the November 2012 Council Meeting, Council unanimously voted to name the Longford Fun Run in Liz’s memory.
The 2014 Longford Fun run was moved to the beautiful Brickendon grounds and is now the Liz Ellis Memorial Trail fun run/walk.
